Powered by a single 9v battery, the backlit digital readout can be read in dark conditions and has an easy to understand keypad, with keys marked ‘Planet’ ‘Galaxy’, ‘Star’ etc.

Alignment is by the ‘Two Star’ system, where you just find two known stars, and the controller then works out where it is. Arrows on the readout point in the direction that you should move the telescope up or down, left or right, and the object you are looking for will be found in seconds.

Either model can be added to with a range of accessories, like a padded carry case, and solar filters supplied by Orion.
